Since moving to Singapore in 2022, I have become an expert traveler, learning from each trip that I have made to and from Singapore to the USA or Internationally. I love how Google reminded me recently how many countries I have traveled to in my lifetime (since Google Maps) 12 Countries/Regions, 329 Cities and 3089 places. I don't believe this counts since I got married in 1995, because living a military life for the last 23 years- I have on the books just the places that I have lived is 8 states, moving within 23 times in the 23 years of being in the military- which has been an adventure in itself. I have been married now for 30 years and after the 3 kids left for college, we continued our journey internationally and we have traveled throughout Asia for the last two years since moving to Singapore.
When packing, I recommend rolling the clothes like this. It really does make a different in helping to stay organized, finding clothes in your suitcase fast but also sometimes in Asia space is tight and I have to leave my clothes in the suitcase in the hotel, so having my suitcase organized, like a drawer in a dresser, is helpful. When I travel, I don't take a carryon that goes in the overhead. The reason is because I don't want to feel like I have to worry if there isn't space available when I get on the plane. I like to know that whatever I need is close by under the seat in front of me and it does help with getting around the airport faster and easier before the flight. I normally bring a small backpack or a sling bag to carry just a few necessary items that can not go inside checked in large luggage- like a laptop.
Items I carry on me always on an International trip (just in case there is a delay, which causes you to sleep overnight in a hotel til the next flight, or a long layover which you may want to freshen up before the next flight. Here they are:
-toothbrush and a tiny toothpaste
-a pair of contacts ( just in case)
-eye drops (since i nap with my contacts)
-a pair of undies (just in case i need to take a shower and want a fresh pair)
-an instant coffee/tea bag (because hotels always have hot water)
-eye liner and lip gloss (to freshen up if needed)
-ear plugs (for the flight if needed)
-earphones (for music and movies off my phone)
-download movies (just in case they don't offer any good ones)
-charge cords (to always keep everything charged)
-battery bank ( just in case you can't charge with the cord)
-water bottle (always stay hydrated- to help being less bloated)
-zip up hoodie with large hood (my fav is my lulu lemon cause the hood covers my eyes and it is cozy for long cold flights)
Where ever you travel, here are some tips to make it easier and if you have any questions on the best luggage, where to purchase items that work well or anything travel- please reach out! I have been asked how I do this so often, with the long flights 25+hrs sometimes and I always respond "I don't think about it". Let me share with you how powerful our thoughts are and how it really changes everything magically, in another post! Please Follow
